So Sammy pointed at the two posts and said, “If you go beyond this point, you will disappear and we will never see you again.” Pamela agreed and they went back to the house.

So a few days later Pamela and her dog Pig Iron were playing fetch. They ran to the farthest point of the farm. Pamela came to the point where the two posts were. Pamela remembered what her sister had said. She put her hand threw the two posts quickly and pulled her hand back and looked at it. It was still there, it didn’t disappear. She thought maybe they were lying. Maybe they just said that and didn’t want her to go and meet the new neighbors. Then she saw some little kids her age playing on the other side of the two fence posts.

She eagerly wanted to meet them. She stood there for a while and the two kids yelled out to her, “Hi, do you want to play with us?”
Of course Pamela wanted to play. Her nature was to adventure, but she was trying not to break the rules. She knew her sisters would get into big trouble if she went passed the point of the two posts. The two kids came closer, one was a boy and the other was a girl just about Pamela age. The two kids had a ball and invited her to play stick ball. She told them what her sister had said about going past the point of the two posts. The kids laughed at the story. They urged her to come over and she soon did. She crossed the two posts and played with the new kids. They laughed and played for hours. When darkness came she knew she was in trouble. The sun was already lower then the hills. So she ran as fast as she could. She must have been 2 hours late when she got to the house.

She walked in and said, “I’m sorry I’m late, I hope you are not mad.”
No one spoke to her. She repeated herself and still no one said anything. They ignored her and ate the food. She yelled out, “HEY I’m sorry, can’t you hear me?”
Her dad said to her mother, “Did you hear that?”
Her mother said, “It must be the wind.”
Pamela nudged her sister Linda on the shoulder. Linda didn’t react. She kept eating. Pamela sat at the table and there was no food on her plate. She asked her mother to get her some food. Her mother didn’t hear her. No one could hear her. So she went and made her own plate of food and sat down at the table.

After dinner, she went to the living room and watched Television. Her family laughed and talked about the movie that was on. Pamela would talk but everyone ignored her. Pamela was getting angry. She stood in front of the TV and no one paid attention. They acted like she wasn’t there. She began to cry and no one looked at her. They passed her by like a ghost.

After a few hours of being invisible she gave up and just sat in a chair and watched her family. Her mother said that she missed Pamela. Her father said that he missed her too. Her sisters talked about how fun she used to be. Pamela began to cry. Her father looked at her and said, “Is that Pamela?”
Her mother said, “That sounds like Pamela, but she disappeared.”
Her sisters laughed and said, “She should have never gone past the two posts.”
Pamela began to cry hard. She ran up to her father and begged him to talk to her. He looked at her and opened his arms to hug her. He said, “I wish you would have listened to me, now you are invisible. I can’t see you anymore.”
Pamela cried out, “LOOK, I am here, I’m not invisible!”

Her mother said, “That’s enough father”
She walked up to her and hugged her tightly.
“We were so worried about you. You were not supposed to past the two posts!”
Her sisters both rolled their eyes and said, “We are glad you are OK.”
Her dad said, “We had to teach you a lesson. I hope you don’t forget the rules!”

Pamela ran to her father and said, “Daddy, I’ll never do that again.”
They took her to bed and tucked her in. They all kissed her and she slept like a baby.
Pamela never wandered off ever again.
